This Shavuot, let rule of law be observed

The holiday of Shavuot, which begins the night of Tuesday, June 3rd, and continues through Thursday, celebrates the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Shavuot completes the cycle that celebrates the origin of the Jews as a people, starting with Passover. The holiday of Shavuot, once an agricultural festival, has come to represent the importance of the Torah, and our understanding that freedom is not complete until there is rule of law to guide us.

Thank you, Pope Francis

Pope-at_2-Walls320x265captionLast week, APN asked Pope Francis to use his leadership – and his voice - to build on the gestures of humility and reconciliation that he has become famous for. We asked him to advocate for peace - and he did.


In addition to laying a wreath at Herzl’s grave and visiting the Yad Vashem Holocaust museum in Jerusalem, Pope Francis also took time to offer a prayer near the separation wall, and to extend an unprecedented invitation for a peace prayer summit in Rome.


Thank you, Pope Francis, for speaking up. We wish you all the best as we all continue to work together for peace
